LifeTrek is a licensed outdoor travel agency specializing in trekking, expeditions, ski touring and active journeys around the world.

But before many of our trips become part of the LifeTrek programme, we explore the destinations ourselves. Our director regularly travels to potential new locations to experience the terrain, assess routes, meet local partners and understand how the journey works beyond what can be seen on a map.

From ski touring on the volcanoes of Chile to the mountains of Andorra, the Dolomites and Georgia, this first-hand exploration helps us create journeys that are authentic, carefully planned and grounded in real experience.

A beautiful destination is only the beginning. Before developing a new LifeTrek journey, we want to understand how it actually feels on the ground.

During our exploration trips, we assess:

• routes, terrain and daily stages;
• seasonal and weather conditions;
• transfers, accommodation and overall logistics;
• the knowledge and reliability of local partners;
• what makes the destination genuinely worth travelling for.

Not every location or route becomes part of our programme. We select and adapt each journey according to what we learn in the field.

Until now, we have mostly shown you the finished programmes. From now on, we will also share the stories, decisions and discoveries behind them.
