What to Expect

This expedition is designed for adventurers seeking to conquer a high-altitude peak in an exotic setting. Mount Damavand, located in northern Iran, is a prominent stratovolcano that towers above the Alborz range. Its symmetrical shape resembles Japan’s Mount Fuji, and it stands as a powerful symbol in Persian mythology.

Although technically non-demanding, the trek requires strong physical conditioning due to altitude challenges. Expect long days of hiking, early starts, and exposure to cold, thin air at over 5,000 meters. You’ll sleep in mountain huts and enjoy local hospitality in remote villages. Our route includes sufficient acclimatization hikes to reduce the risk of altitude sickness.

Off the mountain, experience the vibrant culture of Iran — from its friendly people and ancient history to Tehran’s bustling bazaar. This trip combines physical achievement with a rich cultural backdrop, delivering a once-in-a-lifetime experience in one of Asia’s most captivating destinations.

  • Summit Mount Damavand (5,671 m) – the highest peak in Iran and the Middle East
  • Experience a true alpine adventure on an extinct volcano emitting sulfur vapors
  • Acclimatization treks and stunning views across the Alborz Mountains
  • Cultural exploration of Tehran with a visit to local bazaars and historical sites
  • Led by experienced local guides and accompanied by a Slovenian trip leader
