Mont Blanc Ascent – Trois Monts Route

The Trois Monts Route is the most technical and demanding ascent of Mont Blanc in our selection. Despite its difficulty, it is the second most popular route after the Gouter Route, mainly due to the high starting altitude.

This glacier traverse offers stunning ridge-line views, but requires strong mountaineering skills, including steep ice climbing and crevasse navigation.

Choose your route

We guide Mont Blanc on three routes. The itinerary below follows the Trois Monts route – the other two are available on request:

• Trois Monts route (4 days) – from the Aiguille du Midi over Mont Blanc du Tacul and Mont Maudit, with a night at the Cosmiques Hut. The most technical of the three.
• Goûter route (4 days) – the classic normal route from Les Houches via Nid d’Aigle, Tête Rousse and the Goûter Hut (3,835 m). Technically easier, but it crosses the Grand Couloir, where timing is critical.
• Grand Mulets route (3 days) – from Plan de l’Aiguille across the Bossons Glacier to the Grand Mulets Hut (3,051 m). A quieter glacier route, often used early in the season.
