Tour Details

At 3,798 meters (12,461 feet), Grossglockner is the highest mountain in Austria and one of the most iconic Alpine peaks. Located in the Hohe Tauern National Park, it is a dream climb for mountaineers looking to challenge themselves with a demanding yet rewarding ascent.

Grossglockner’s first recorded ascent was in 1800, with Slovenian climber Valentin Stanič among the first to reach the summit. While the peak is a popular climbing objective, it is not an easy summit. The final summit ridge requires technical climbing skills, offering a thrilling and exposed ascent with stunning panoramic views.

Why Climb Grossglockner?
  • Highest mountain in Austria
  • Technically exciting climb, featuring rock scrambling and glacier crossing
  • Perfect training peak for bigger Alpine objectives
