Norway is a land of breathtaking beauty, and Lifetrek is reviving a classic adventure—a trekking journey across the Lofoten Islands. If you are drawn to pristine natural landscapes, few places in the world can compare.
The Lofoten archipelago offers a miniature version of Norway’s most spectacular sights: towering mountains, charming fishing villages, sandy beaches, turquoise waters, dramatic fjords, and a Viking heritage. This is also the land of the midnight sun, where long summer days allow for unforgettable hikes under the golden Arctic light.
This 8-day trekking tour takes you through the wildest and most beautiful corners of Lofoten, following off-the-beaten-path routes far from the tourist crowds.
Lofoten is known for its breathtaking scenery, dramatic peaks, and rich fishing traditions. Jagged mountains rise straight from the sea, reaching heights of over 1,000 meters, while the rugged coastline is dotted with picturesque villages and hidden beaches.
Despite lying within the Arctic Circle, Lofoten enjoys a surprisingly mild climate, making it possible to sunbathe on secluded beaches with towering peaks in the background. The best spots, however, are only accessible on foot, which is why we will follow less-traveled hiking trails to uncover the most stunning panoramas.
Local fishermen say that there are no bad views in Lofoten—except when the peaks are covered in clouds.
Although most of our journey will focus on wild nature, we will also experience the history and traditions of Lofoten.
For centuries, fishing has been the lifeblood of the islands, providing a livelihood for local communities. We will witness this heritage firsthand, from drying cod racks to traditional fishing villages. We will also visit the Lofotr Viking Museum, one of the best Viking museums in the world, to learn how stockfish (dried cod) fueled Viking explorations.
This is a real trekking expedition, meaning we will carry our gear and food, sleep in tents in remote locations, and embrace the raw beauty of nature.

This is a real trekking expedition, meaning we will carry our gear and food, sleep in tents in remote locations, and embrace the raw beauty of nature. Unlike other tours in Lofoten that rely on hotels and vehicles, this trip focuses on self-sufficient hiking, wild camping, and full immersion in the Arctic wilderness.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime journey for those seeking adventure, solitude, and unspoiled nature.
We will meet at Bodø Airport and take a ferry to Moskenes, the gateway to Lofoten. Overnight in a camp in Moskenes.
Our first trekking day begins in Moskenes, where we prepare breakfast and set off towards the Munkebu mountain hut.
This classic Lofoten hike leads us to a spectacular alpine setting, surrounded by deep blue mountain lakes—the perfect spot to set up camp and enjoy nature in its purest form.
For those seeking extra adventure, there is an optional ascent of Hermannsdalstinden (1,029 m), one of Lofoten’s highest peaks, offering jaw-dropping views of the entire archipelago.

In the evening, we return to Moskenes and camp for the night.
The final day of the Lofoten Trekking is devoted to exploring the charming fishing village of Å, considered the heart of traditional Norwegian fishing culture. Located at the very end of the E10 scenic route, Å feels like a journey back in time. Preserved fishermen’s cabins and rows of traditional red houses tell the story of centuries shaped by life at sea.
We also visit the cod liver oil factory, where we learn about the historical importance of this product for local fishermen and coastal communities.
In the afternoon, we drive to Reine, where we ascend Reinebringen. “Only” 1,987 steps separate us from one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the entire archipelago. Upon reaching the summit, we take time to pause and enjoy sweeping views of Reine village, surrounded by dramatic fjords and steep mountain peaks.
