Krn (2,244 m), a legendary peak offering wide-open views stretching toward the Adriatic Sea. Just below its summit lies Krn Lake, a stunning glacial lake nestled among rugged mountain walls, providing a perfect spot to rest and reflect.
The route leads across Bogatin Saddle and onto the panoramic Komna Plateau, where alpine meadows, historic military trails, and panoramic vistas come together in a unique high-mountain setting. Along the way, you’ll encounter remnants of World War I, including bunkers, tunnels, and barracks, offering a sense of connection to the region’s past.
On the final day, the trail descends past the magical Savica Waterfall, one of the most picturesque in Slovenia, before reaching the shores of Lake Bohinj, where a refreshing swim awaits. This unique three-day trek connects two of Slovenia’s most iconic alpine landscapes: the emerald green Soča River and the tranquil shores of Lake Bohinj. Designed to suit families and those seeking a moderate challenge, the route combines natural beauty, cultural heritage, and a taste of Slovenia’s alpine traditions.
Starting from the peaceful village of Krn, the trail begins with a gradual ascent through the valley of Lužnica. As the path climbs, you’ll pass Luzhnica Lake and continue toward the summit of Batognica, where the scars of World War I—bunkers and trenches—still remain. The route briefly descends to the saddle of Škrbina before climbing again to Gomiščkovo Shelter, perched high beneath the summit. A sunset ascent of Mt. Krn crowns the day, offering views over the Julian Alps and, on clear evenings, even the Adriatic coast. The night is spent in the comfort of the mountain hut with a hearty traditional dinner.
