Tour Details

Spend two unforgettable days hiking through the breathtaking Valley of the Seven Triglav Lakes, the very heart of Triglav National Park. This extended hike allows you to immerse yourself fully in the beauty of Slovenia’s most iconic alpine valley.

Over the course of two days, you’ll traverse scenic highland trails, cross vibrant mountain pastures, and pass by six of the seven glacial lakes that give the valley its name. From emerald-green pools to mirror-like alpine tarns, each lake offers a unique backdrop and sense of peace.

Along the way, you’ll observe traditional shepherds tending to their herds, just as they have for centuries. This is living cultural heritage—raw, authentic, and untouched.

Keep your eyes open for wildlife: mountain goats (chamois), marmots, and even golden eagles are often spotted in this area.

This two-day hike is perfect for hikers looking to go deeper into the wilderness, experience a night in a cozy mountain hut, and explore one of Europe’s last pristine alpine valleys.

What to Expect

The Seven Lakes Valley Hike – 2 Days is a breathtaking alpine journey through the heart of Triglav National Park, designed for those who want to experience more than just a day hike. Over the course of two days, you’ll hike approximately 6 hours each day across marked and scenic mountain trails, guided by an experienced local expert.

On day one, after a short transfer from Bled or Bohinj, the adventure begins at the Blato Plateau. You’ll ascend gently through quiet alpine forests until you reach Planina pri Jezeru, a traditional mountain pasture beside a tranquil lake. As you continue, the landscape opens to reveal authentic shepherds’ settlements, alpine meadows, and dramatic limestone cliffs.

A moderate climb leads you to the panoramic Štapce Saddle (1,851 m), where your effort is rewarded with the iconic view of the Double Lake and the sweeping Seven Triglav Lakes Valley. After a scenic lunch by the lake, your trail continues past several more stunning lakes—including Ledvička (“The Kidney”)—before reaching your overnight destination: the Zasavska Hut at Prehodavci. Spend the evening surrounded by rugged peaks, alpine silence, and a truly remote atmosphere.

The second day offers a new perspective. Your return path leads across the Vrata Pass (1,938 m) and descends into the peaceful Za Kopico Valley, a less-traveled corner of the park known for its untouched charm. You’ll pass by Dedno Polje pasture, still active in the summer months, before looping back to Blato Plateau.

This tour is rated difficulty level 2: ideal for hikers in good shape, but no technical skills are required. The trail is well marked, and the pace is adapted to the group. Along the way, you might spot wild chamois, marmots, and even eagles soaring overhead.

  • Two-day guided hike in the Seven Triglav Lakes Valley
  • Start from Blato Plateau, hike through forest to Planina pri Jezeru

Itinerary

Day 1Blato – Seven Lakes Valley – Zasavska Hut (Prehodavci)

The tour begins with a transfer from Bled or Bohinj to Blato Plateau, the starting point of the hike. From here, you’ll ascend through peaceful forest paths to reach Planina pri Jezeru (1,453 m), a scenic alpine pasture beside a small lake.

As you continue, the trail opens into a high-mountain landscape with traditional shepherd settlements and grazing livestock. A steeper section leads you to the Štapce Saddle (1,851 m), where you’ll enjoy a magnificent view of the Seven Triglav Lakes Valley, with the iconic Double Lake below.

After descending to the Double Lake, you’ll stop for a traditional mountain lunch and continue hiking past several more lakes, including the stunning Ledvička (“Kidney Lake”), before reaching the remote Zasavska Hut. This mountain lodge offers basic accommodation and beautiful views to end your first day.

Day 2Prehodavci – Vrata Pass – Za Kopico Valley – Blato

After breakfast at the hut, you’ll head out on a new route that gives you a different perspective of the valley. The trail crosses gentle alpine ridges before climbing to Vrata Pass (1,938 m), one of the highest points of the day.

From there, you’ll descend into the Za Kopico Valley, known for its pristine nature and silence. The trail then passes the alpine pasture Dedno Polje, before following a well-maintained path back to the starting point at Blato Plateau, where your driver will meet you.
