Embark on a breathtaking journey through one of the most scenic alpine valleys in the Julian Alps — the Triglav Valley of the Seven Lakes. Considered a gem of Triglav National Park, this high mountain valley enchants with its crystal-clear lakes, dramatic rock formations, and rich biodiversity.
Over two unforgettable days, we’ll gradually ascend through the entire valley, crossing alpine pastures and remote trails surrounded by untouched nature. On the second day, we’ll reach the majestic summit of Triglav, the highest mountain in Slovenia (2,864 m), standing proudly above the clouds.
This circular tour is not just about reaching the top — it’s also a cultural experience. As we pass through traditional Bohinj mountain pastures and shepherd huts, you’ll get a glimpse of life in the mountains as it once was — simple, raw, and deeply connected to nature.
Whether you’re a passionate hiker or an adventurous soul seeking a meaningful alpine experience, this tour offers a perfect balance of challenge, beauty, and authenticity.

This two-day alpine adventure offers a gradual but steady ascent through the stunning Valley of the Seven Lakes, one of the most picturesque areas in Triglav National Park. Along the way, you’ll be surrounded by alpine lakes, rugged peaks, and remote pastures steeped in tradition. On the second day, you’ll tackle the final and most challenging section — a climb to the summit of Triglav (2,864 m), Slovenia’s highest peak.
The route includes rocky trails, exposed terrain, and a via ferrata section, all under the watchful care of an experienced local guide. Expect a physically demanding hike with around 8 hours of walking per day, changing alpine weather conditions, and basic overnight accommodation in a mountain hut or shelter. In return, you’ll experience unforgettable views, the serenity of untouched nature, and a true sense of achievement.
After meeting your guide and transferring from your accommodation, the hike begins from Mountain Blato. The trail leads gently through a beautiful forest of birch and beech trees. Soon, we reach the charming Hut by the Lake, nestled among tall evergreens — a perfect spot for a short pause.
As we continue, the path opens up to expansive alpine views. The trail becomes steeper as we approach the saddle of Štapce, and shortly after, we arrive at the iconic Triglav Lakes Hut beside Double Lake (1689 m). Welcome to the heart of the Valley of the Seven Triglav Lakes.
After a well-earned break and snack, we continue hiking through the valley. The scenery begins to shift — from lush green pastures to a more rugged, rocky landscape. We pass Kidney Lake and Green Lake before taking another short rest.
Leaving the valley behind, we take on a steeper ascent across scree slopes to reach the Hribarice plateau — a high alpine world of rock formations, deep sinkholes, and jaw-dropping views. After a brief break, we begin our descent toward the Dolič Hut (2151 m), where a traditional Slovenian mountain dinner and a good night’s rest await.
We begin early, climbing toward the summit of Mt. Triglav. The trail leads over scree and rocky slopes, with sections equipped with fixed cables for safety. Along the way, you’ll catch your first dramatic glimpses of Slovenia’s highest peak.
There are two route options: a direct approach to Planika Hut, where we’ll spend the night, or a slightly longer circuit passing the historic remains of the Morbegna military outpost (2520 m).
The final push to the summit is the most technically demanding part of the climb. With the help of your guide and proper via ferrata equipment (helmet, harness, and lanyard), you’ll safely ascend to the top of Triglav (2864 m), where breathtaking panoramic views reward your effort.
After soaking in the experience at the summit, we descend slowly to the Planika mountain hut for dinner and a cozy overnight stay.
Following breakfast, we begin our descent toward Vodnik Hut via a rocky but non-exposed trail. From there, the path continues down into the peaceful Krstenica Valley.
The final stretch of the hike leads through mysterious alpine forests and open meadows — a tranquil finish surrounded by unspoiled nature and the soft hues of the beech forest. The tour concludes where it began: at Mountain Blato.
