Svaneti, a remote mountain region in the Greater Caucasus, is rapidly gaining fame as a top destination for ski touring and freeride skiing. The area boasts expansive, untracked slopes reaching up to 4,000 meters and exceptionally dry snow, perfect for deep powder runs. The landscape is framed by towering peaks, including the iconic Mount Ushba (4,710 m) and Georgia’s highest summit, Shkhara (5,203 m).
The new Tetnuldi ski resort (2,200–3,100 m) offers excellent ski touring access and serves as a reliable alternative during adverse weather conditions. Our daily tours will adapt to snow and weather conditions as well as participants’ abilities, ensuring a flexible and rewarding experience. You will stay in Mestia, a town that blends centuries-old Svaneti traditions with the region’s emerging tourism scene.
LifeTrek provides small group experiences with a maximum of 6 skiers per guide. Our internationally certified IFMG mountain guides prioritize safety, comfort, and adapting the program to suit different skill levels. They also possess in-depth knowledge of the terrain and snow conditions, ensuring the best possible skiing experience.
Transfer to Mestia, a journey of approximately 5 hours. Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation, attend a briefing with the local guide, and enjoy a short tour of the town. Dinner and overnight stay in Mestia.
Get acquainted with the unique Caucasus snow while your guide evaluates the skill levels of all participants. Expect freeride runs at Tetnuldi and, conditions permitting, a shorter ski tour to warm up.
Embark on the first full ski tour with ascents ranging from 600 to 1,000 meters. The itinerary remains flexible, adapting to snow conditions, weather, and group preferences. If conditions allow, we’ll head to Mazeri village and get up close to the majestic Ushba (4,710 m).
Another ski touring day with at least 900 meters of ascent. The route remains flexible, and if conditions permit, we’ll explore the Laila Mountain area, offering impressive ascents and views.
Discover nearby valleys and hills, choosing the best tour of the day. Optionally (extra charge), visit Ushguli, the highest permanently inhabited village in Europe. A full-day tour will reward you with breathtaking views of the High Caucasus, including Mount Elbrus and Georgia’s tallest peaks. A two-day extension to Ushguli, with an overnight stay, is possible for an even more immersive experience.
Enjoy a free day at the Tetnuldi resort. You can either ski independently or join the guide for an optional ski tour. If the Ushguli extension is chosen, spend this day touring and return to Mestia in the afternoon.
Make the most of your last ski day by finding the best slopes and savoring the Caucasus powder. Depending on road and weather conditions, spend the night in Mestia or travel to Kutaisi.
Enjoy free time before your transfer to the airport. End of Program.
