Our journey takes us through a four-day trek from Mestia to Ushguli, the highest permanently inhabited settlement in Europe. Surrounded by the stunning peaks of Ushba, Tetnuldi and Shkhara, the Svaneti region is an absolute must-visit for mountain lovers.
During this 4-day trekking experience, we will explore medieval villages, cross scenic mountain passes, and sleep in local guesthouses, where we will be treated to traditional Georgian cuisine. For those who prefer, optional baggage transport is available during the trek.

A 4-day trek from Mestia to Ushguli is an unforgettable journey through the heart of the Caucasus Mountains. Along the way, you can expect breathtaking alpine scenery, traditional Svan villages, medieval stone towers, green valleys, and snow-covered peaks. The trail combines moderate hiking with long walking days, usually 6–8 hours per day, passing through remote mountain landscapes and local guesthouses where you can experience authentic Georgian hospitality and cuisine. Weather can change quickly, so good hiking equipment and preparation are important. The trek is challenging at times, but the incredible views and unique cultural atmosphere make it absolutely worth it.
We begin our journey with a meeting in a local guesthouse in Mestia, the cultural heart of Svaneti, surrounded by dramatic Caucasus peaks and traditional stone towers. We will meet our local guide, make a plan for next days and spend lovely evening eating delicious food in local restaurant.
The adventure begins in center of Mestia after breakfast. The trail gradually climbs through forests, meadows, and small mountain villages, offering the first panoramic views of Mount Tetnuldi. Along the way, you experience authentic rural life and the peaceful atmosphere of the region before arriving in the charming village of Zhabeshi for the night.

Today’s route leads higher into the mountains across alpine pastures and scenic ridgelines with spectacular views of glaciers and snow-covered summits. The trail passes remote shepherd areas before descending into Adishi, one of the most isolated and beautiful villages in Svaneti, where medieval towers and traditional wooden houses create a truly unique atmosphere.

This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. After crossing the Adishi River, the path climbs steadily toward the Chkhutnieri Pass at around 2,700 meters. From the top, breathtaking views open over glaciers, rugged peaks, and deep mountain valleys. A long descent follows toward the small village of Iprali, where a well-earned rest and traditional Georgian dinner await.

The final stage follows the beautiful Enguri Valley toward Ushguli, one of the highest permanently inhabited settlements in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Surrounded by the towering Caucasus Mountains and the majestic Mount Shkhara, Ushguli is the perfect ending to this unforgettable trekking experience through one of the wildest and most authentic regions of Georgia. After exploring Ushguli we return with car to Mestia. We say goodbye to our guide, In evening you can celebrate sucessful trip with delicious local food, there is possibility to visit also local cinema Dede for screening of local awarded movie Dede.
