Experience the beauty of the Caucasus Mountains on this exciting expedition. You’ll hike through valleys, alpine meadows, and glaciers, guided by experienced local guides.
We will start our jurney in beautifull Stepantsminda, where we will be seeing traditional Georgian life up close. Then we will go to the mountains and experience real mountaineering and stunning nature. Nights are spent in cozy tents or mountain huts, with delicious local meals.
The climb to Mount Kazbek (5,033 m / 16,512 ft) is challenging but rewarding, with amazing views of the mountains and glaciers. Small groups make the journey safe and personal, letting you enjoy every moment of this high-mountain adventure.
We pick you up on a meeting point in Kutaisi/Tbilisi and set off on a comfortable drive to northern Georgia. Stepantsminda is capital of Kazbegi region and is located beneath the majestic Kazbegi. After arriving to accomodation we take a short walk around village and have dinner. We meet the local guide and prepare for the expedition. Overnight in Stepantsminda.
After breakfast, our expedition begins. We drive to the St. Trinity Church (2170 m) and load our luggage onto horses. From there, we trek to Altihut at 3000 meters, a journey of around four hours. Altihut is the perfect first stop for acclimatization and to prepare our bodies for the higher altitudes ahead. Upon arrival, we settle into our tents and take in the stunning views of Kazbegi’s northern slopes. The evening is reserved for rest and dinner.
After breakfast, we continue to the Meteo Station at 3650 meters, the base camp where real summit preparation begins. The hike takes about three to four hours and part of it goes across the glacier, so we’ll use crampons that day. Once we arrive, we set up our tents and enjoy the calm and amazing views of the surrounding mountains. Rest and dinner.
In the morning, we do a short climb to about 4200 meters to help our bodies get used to the high altitude. The hike takes about five hours. In the afternoon, we rest, drink water and get our gear ready. We eat an early dinner and rest well because we will climb to the summit at night.
We start between two and three a.m. after breakfast, equipped with crampons and headlamps. The climb up and back usually takes 10–12 hours. From the top of Mount Kazbegi (5054 meters), we enjoy a panoramic view, on a clear day we can see Elbrus in the distance. After descending, we rest at the Meteo Station, where we spend the night.
After breakfast, we return to Stepantsminda. In the afternoon, we relax and explore village. In the evening we celebrate the end of the expedition with a farewell dinner. Overnight in Stepantsminda.
After breakfast, we organise transfer to Tbilisi/Kutaisi.
